GIS Support for Hazard Recovery and Mitigation

3-D model of groundwater recharge from flooded stream

When combined with spatial data, the results of predictive modeling become powerful decision support tools. Examples from the CGRP efforts include combinations of GIS and numerical codes to predict post-fire erosion and runoff, changes to the groundwater system as a result of ponding behind sediment retention structures (shown at left), and wildfire modeling. Links from this page lead to summaries of such predictive modeling projects. Watch for future additions to this page. The graphical products of these predictive efforts (e.g., flood maps) may be included in the Data Catalog.
